Seven graduates of Herring Gut Learning Center School of Roots joined us for an ALUMNI DAY at HGLC.
The students, who all now attend Oceanside High School in Rockland, had not been to Herring Gut for a few months up to a few years. This opportunity gave them the chance to become reunited with former classmates and former teachers. Students were supported in completing academic school work before carving pumpkins and making homemade apple cider doughnuts!
As you can see in the photos, carved designs were creative... spooky faces to lobster buoys! After cleaning up, the alumni headed to the Pope Memorial Humane Society.
There they took a tour and volunteered time to spread wood chips on a walking trail.
Alumni will be meeting and engaging in different activities every month during the school year and we are excited to embrace summer opportunities as well!
Quotes from the day:
“I wish every day was a Herring Gut Day”
“I’ve never carved a pumpkin before”
“Can we do this every day?”
