Raising Oysters and Aspirations in Port Clyde, Maine

This film features the students of MSAD 50's Alternative Education Program as they describe, in the own words, how to grow oysters, and how participation in this Herring Gut experience has influenced their lives.


Herring Gut Intern Sara Rademaker Brings Aquaculture to Uganda

Herring Gut's talented new Americorps intern Sara Rademaker spent several months in Uganda bringing new aquaculture techniques and technologies to local fish farmers there. Sara is now sharing her expertise with the staff and students at Herring Gut.


Community at Work: Bringing the Fish Home!

The marsh in Tenants Harbor was once full of alewives, a vital forage fish to the local fishing industry. Road improvements eliminated their way to get back in the marsh from the ocean, but this is not stopping an enthusiastic group of children and adults from the community who are participating in the alewives restoration project. Check out this video of the first fish release last May for more information.
