Herring Gut Professional Development Institute offers multi-day training courses on providing instruction that naturally integrates science, English language arts, math, and social studies. You'll have fun learning how you can teach your students the joy of science and math. The proximity of our campus to a working harbor, historic lighthouse, and tidal beach also provide us with ample opportunities and options for incorporating "the Maine coast" into our training programs.
Our multi-day training immerses you in project-based instruction that naturally integrates science, English language arts, math, and social studies. Periodically, we offer extensions of our summer courses for past participants and their colleagues as well as modifications of our summer courses to fit school year schedules. We also work with educators and their institutions to create custom-designed workshops in project-based, integrated instruction utilizing our aquaponics facilities, wet lab, and waterfront properties.read more
Our campus in Port Clyde includes the Thomson House, a traditional Maine farmhouse that looks out onto Port Clyde harbor. The house has three bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and simple and rustic furnishings. Any applicant accepted into one or more of our summer sessions is welcome to apply for on-campus lodging.read more
