About Our Supporters
For over a decade Herring Gut supporters have helped us provide hands-on experiences and inspiration for young people who need an alternative approach to motivate and engage them to study, improve grades, change attitudes and become responsible adults.
In the past year contributions and grants have helped provide instructors and laboratories for middle and high school academic programs, brought over twenty teachers from Maine to Pennsylvania to Port Clyde to learn how to teach science and math using a classroom aquaponics system and supported school and community outreach programs that taught marine science and conservation to several hundred young students.
We appreciate and thank the many individuals and organizations who share our belief that every child deserves a quality education that provides them with the academic and life skills necessary to reach their full potential as adults and compete in the 21st century workplace.
"Herring Gut taught me almost everything I needed to know for my current job ... They also have helped me through some of the roughest patches in my life by just being there and encouraging me to be better."
"Herring Gut was absolutely amazing. The teachers there were also great. I learned a lot by going there."
