Summer Workshops Our multi-day training immerses you in project-based instruction that naturally integrates science, English language arts, math, and social studies. Learn how to lead an inside or outside project that enables your students to create real-world products and services. We provide you with the lessons, materials, and tools you will need to successfully apply and adapt these projects to fit your own instructional needs. Located in the picturesque fishing village of Port Clyde, Herring Gut provides an ideal environment for teachers to getaway and enjoy time exploring ideas, discovering possibilities and connecting with colleagues.
School Year Workshops Periodically, we offer extensions of our summer courses for past participants and their colleagues as well as modifications of our summer courses to fit school year schedules. We also work with educators and their institutions to create custom-designed workshops in project-based, integrated instruction utilizing our aquaponics facilities, wet lab, and waterfront properties. The proximity of our campus to a working harbor, historic lighthouse, and tidal beach also provide us with ample opportunities and options for incorporating "the Maine coast" into our training programs.
